Life in the 17th Century at Woburn Abbey: A special historical tour of the beautiful Woburn Abbey followed by their indulgent afternoon tea
Friday 18th June, 2pm (£25)
Woburn Abbey has been the beautiful and imposing home of the Dukes of Bedford for over 400 years and was opened to the public in 1953. The site is steeped in colourful history and the building has many stunning examples of architecture, art and textiles.
The 17th century was one of the most exciting and eventful periods in Woburn’s history, particularly due to the political threats and factions arising as a result the English Civil War. Through our special guided tour and talk find out about the family that lived through that turbulent period, their everyday and social lives and how they survived a perilous and uncertain time. Afterwards relax in the truly beautiful surroundings to enjoy an indulgent afternoon tea which has a reputation for excellence.
