The Bloomsbury Set: A special guided London walk

Thursday 16th September, 11am (£28)

Every year the Minerva guided walks led by Blue Badge guide Sarah Fordham are a sell-out success so if you want to join us on this year’s literary themed walk we recommend you book quickly! This is a day long outing, with a short break for you to lunch at one of the many cafes in the area before resuming the tour.

You will walk through the streets of a unique literary enclave, where many writers lived including The Bloomsbury Set who were said 'to live in squares, write in circles and love in triangles'. Hear tales of the books written, walk the streets which inspired them, learn of the feuds that waged between them and the bohemian lives they really led.  You will see the Senate House of London University where George Orwell worked subsequently portrayed as ‘the Ministry of Truth’ in his novel 1984. Walk through one of the largest squares in London by the beautiful terracotta hotel of Russell Square. We will finish at The British Library which opened there in 1997 – where you will have the opportunity to see Shakespeare's First Folio & Magna Carta. (Please note, this event requires several hours of walking and may include some steps).
