Despite the turbulent times being faced by the financial services industry, Northampton High School’s Deputy Head Girl, Jeevan Mahil, has been successful in securing a prestigious internship with HSBC.
HSBC runs the programme in conjunction with the Girls’ Day School Trust and this is the second year in a row that a High School applicant has been successful. Last year’s intern, Sophie Petrie, is now travelling after completing her placement in December. She has, however, been accepted onto the HSBC’s first year summer internship for seven weeks during the summer holidays.
Jeevan’s internship comprises two placements; a London head office-based placement within areas such as Government Relations, Internal Communications and Commercial Banking, followed by a retail branch placement in a major city in the UK.
Jeevan is currently studying A Level Economics, French, Spanish and General Studies and is planning to study Economics at university. The internship will provide an opportunity for her to put the theory learned at A Level into practice in a commercial, fast-moving environment.
